The Aviator Story
Early in his career on the finance team of a prominent local healthcare system based in Metro Detroit, Ed spent over a year being rigorously trained and challenged by his hiring manager. When she eventually decided to step away to spend more time with her children, a natural leadership opportunity opened up within the team. Unfortunately, despite his hard work and capabilities, Ed was passed over for the role solely because he lacked a CPA license. He took that personally.
The very next day, Ed made a definitive decision: he was going to earn his CPA. There was just one hurdle—he needed to complete five additional college classes before he was even eligible to sit for the exam. Balancing a demanding career in finance, he spent roughly three years methodically knocking out those prerequisite courses one by one, finally qualifying to sit for the CPA exam.
Around that same period, a new opportunity at a major local automotive OEM brought fresh demands that temporarily paused his testing timeline. But quitting was never an option. Over a grueling testing period, Ed sat for and successfully passed the CPA exam, unlocking a new echelon of professional capability.
